Richard Caring has sold Wentworth Golf Club, one of Britain's most famous courses and home to the Annual PGA Tournament, to Chinese firm, Beijing based Reignwood Investments for £135 million. He bought it in 2004 for £130 million to perfect his swing, and will stay on as a non-executive director.

The charismatic billionaire Mayfair Restaurateur was a keen golfer until a shoulder injury stopped him playing. His portfolio of restaurants and private members' clubs includes celebrity haunts Scotts, George Club, Harry's Bar, Annabel's, The Ivy, 34 Grosvenor Square, and Daphne's in Chelsea.  He has brought Wentworth to a high standard, as in all his other establishments.  The late restaurant critic Michael Winner was always heaping awards on his favourite restaurateur. His Urban Caprice outside caterers are there at the best events.  Although approached by many buyers during his nine years of stewardship, perfectionist Richard Caring has chosen Reignwood to develop and take this historic club forward.

Situated on the leafy 1750 acre Wentworth Estate in Virginia Water in Surrey, which was built at the same time, keen golfer Sir Bruce Forsyth is a neighbour, with Guards Polo Club, and Ascot racecourse nearby.

Wentworth Club was founded in 1926, on the orders of Culling Charles Smith and Lady Anne Fitzroy, the sister of The Duke Of Wellington.
